The Session
This will be a fully meditative session taking the form story telling, mantra, meditation and commentary. We will start with an invocation and then Mandukya will be chanted in full for you.
We’ll then spend some time on each of the four components of Om separately from the lense of the text, that is A, U M and ‘the fourth, via a combination of sounding and listening. Well then move onto learning and sounding how these come together to form this primordial vibration and chant our way in to Om in various ways.
As we go we’ll learn the deeper meaning of some of these verses but this will all be done in our meditative flow state sharing some sacred silence together before moving into World Sound Healing Day.
An Introduction
Let me tell you a story. Once there was a student (much like me and you) journeying down the spiritual path and, after some time, seeks a teacher to go share more deeply the mystery of the universe. The student asks "What is the nature of everything, is there something more the underlies everything I see around me?" To which the teacher replies
'oṁ ity etad akṣaram idaṁ sarvam' - This syllable that is called Om is all that. 'Got it' replies the student ' ........... and Om is what exactly?' and the conversation continues. To inhabit the text of the Mandukya one must connect, not just the verses, the words of the teacher but also to the questions of the student and the unwritten conversation.
This text describes the nature of reality and consciousness through the lens of OM and it's component parts. It teaches that OM is not just a sound but the essence of the entire universe. For those seeking to connect more deeply to themselves and others OM serves as a bridge between the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions, making it an unparalleled tool for fostering harmony and healing. For sound healers, yogis and holistic practitioners alike this text offers an insight into the transformative power of sound, particularly the sacred syllable OM.
